Rep. Carson to Chair House Study Committee on Distracted Driving

ATLANTA – State Representative John Carson (R- Marietta) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as Chairman of the House Study Committee on Distracted Driving. This ten-member study committee was created by House Resolution 282 during the recent legislative session and will examine whether changes to state law may help reduce instances of distracted driving.

“I’m sincerely thankful to Speaker Ralston for appointing me to this committee to further research distracted driving and craft workable solutions to this issue,” said Rep. Carson. “Distracted driving is a serious public safety concern that affects our entire state and causes an alarming number of vehicle crashes and fatalities each year. It is vitally important that we address this issue for the safety of all Georgians.”

The study committee will hold its first meeting on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta.  More information on that meeting will be announced soon.
