Rep. Prince Comments on Plant Vogtle Construction

ATLANTA – State Representative Brian Prince (D-Augusta) today issued the following statement regarding Georgia Power, Oglethorpe Power, MEAG Power and Dalton Utilities’ joint recommendation to continue construction at Plant Vogtle, a nuclear energy electricity-generating facility in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA):

“Georgia continues to lead the nation in forward-thinking energy resources, and the announcement today by our key stakeholders ensures that our state will continue to focus on strengthening its energy portfolio. The CSRA has long-benefitted from the first two Vogtle nuclear units and completing Units 3 and 4 will mean thousands of more jobs in our area and decades of emission-free energy for our great state.”

Representative Brian Prince represents the citizens of District 127, which includes portions of Jefferson and Richmond counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2013, and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Motor Vehicles, Special Rules, and Transportation committees.
