Rep. Hilton to Attend Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills Program

ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners) has been chosen from state executive, legislative and judicial branch officials from across the 15-state Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) region to participate in the 2017 Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS) program. The program will be held in Little Rock, Ark., from October 14 – 18, 2017.

“As a state representative, I am committed to working hard all year to absorb great public policy ideas and best practices from other states that we can implement here in Georgia,” said Rep. Hilton.  “I’m excited for the opportunity to interact with colleagues from across the Southeast and to develop valuable leadership skills that will enhance my effectiveness as a legislator.”

The CALS program is a three-and-a-half day leadership training program that includes activities and instruction focused on improving competencies in communication, conflict resolution, consensus building and critical decision making for state leaders.

“Over the past year, I have seen Rep. Hilton grow into a distinguished public figure who demonstrates the qualities I believe are vital to be a successful leader,” said Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge). “He is honest and works hard, he is trustworthy and he does not abuse the power he is given. In addition, Rep. Hilton listens, he respects the views of others and he treats everyone with the utmost respect. I am proud of the aspiring leader he has become.”

“Scott demonstrates leadership both professionally and in service to his community, and I am proud of his commitment to servant leadership in the Georgia House of Representatives. I am confident that his abilities and willingness to be a pro-active team player will be an asset to the CALS program,” said State Representative Jon Burns (R-Newington), Majority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Established by SLC, the CALS program seeks to provide the public with highly skilled, educated and confident state leaders. The mission of the CALS program is to advocate excellence in state government and provide non-partisan forums for state officials to share ideas.
