Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Condemns Las Vegas Shooting

ATLANTA – The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) today condemned a mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus strongly condemns the horrific mass shooting that occurred this past Sunday in Las Vegas,” said State Representative William Boddie (D-East Point), GLBC Communications Chair. “We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and terror, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, as well as their families and friends.”

“It is important that at a time such as this we give considerable thought to safety measures, such as expansive background checks for all gun sales in our state and nation, as opposed to a total gun ban,” added Rep. Boddie.

A Nevada gunman recently opened fire on concertgoers during a music festival in Las Vegas, killing 59 and injuring more than 500 others.

Representative William Boddie represents the citizens of District 62, which includes portions of Douglas and Fulton counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves on the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Small Business Development committees.
