Rep. Brenda Lopez Accepted as 2018 Truman National Security Project Political Partner

 

ATLANTA – Truman National Security Project has accepted Georgia State Representative Brenda Lopez (D-Norcross) as a Political Partner for 2018.  Truman Project Political Partners is a nationwide membership of diverse leaders inspired to serve and protect the United States in the aftermath of 9/11 and committed to shaping tough, smart national security solutions and includes public officials and political operatives who advance progressive principles and a worldview of =liberal internationalism U.S. smart power.

“I am honored to be a part of Truman National Security Project and believe that America is strongest when we defend, support and ally with countries that understand how progressive policies in diplomacy, defense, development and democracy help us all,” said Rep. Lopez.  “I look forward to joining an already strong group of foreign policy, national security and political experts in the Atlanta Chapter to build solutions and increase awareness that will help shape more progressive policies on issues of immigration, cybersecurity, freedom of speech and protection of the rights of all humans.”

Truman National Security Project has a nationwide membership of post-9/11 veterans, frontline civilians, policy experts and political professionals who share a common vision of U.S. leadership abroad.  Hailing from 16 Chapters and 47 different states across the nation, more than 1,500 Truman members believe in a strong, smart and principled foreign policy that sees the U.S. leading a growing a community of nations towards shared security and prosperity. Truman members believe that America is at its best when we use all the tools in our toolbox: diplomacy, defense, development and democracy promotion.

Rep. Lopez is the first Latina to serve in the Georgia General Assembly.  She currently represents House District 99 that includes communities unincorporated Norcross, Lilburn and Tucker in Gwinnett, which is one of the most diverse House districts in Georgia.

Representative Brenda Lopez represents the citizens of District 99, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves on the Education, Retirement and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
