Speaker Ralston Appoints Rep. Hogan to Jekyll Island State Park Authority Oversight Committee

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative Don Hogan (R-St. Simon’s Island) to serve on the Jekyll Island State Park Authority Oversight Committee. Rep. Hogan’s term will run concurrent with the 2017-2018 legislative term.

“Jekyll Island is a unique and beautiful state park, and I am honored that Speaker Ralston appointed me to serve on this important committee,” said Rep. Hogan. “I am thankful to represent the citizens of District 179, which includes Jekyll Island, and I look forward to continuing my public service to my constituents and our state by helping to preserve our island’s natural resources and beauty.”

The Jekyll Island State Park Authority Oversight Committee is responsible for reviewing the Jekyll Island Authority’s annual financial position and ensuring the authority’s statutory duties and functions are accomplished successfully and in accordance with Georgia law. The Jekyll Island State Park Authority Oversight Committee is composed of three members of the state House of Representatives and three members of the state Senate, appointed by the House Speaker and by the President of the Senate, respectively. Additionally, the Speaker of the House appoints a member who will serve as vice-chairman in odd numbered years and as chairman in even numbered years. The members of the committee serve two-year terms concurrent with their terms as members of the General Assembly.
