ATLANTA – State Representatives Teri Anulewicz (D-Smyrna) and Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) led the Georgia House of Representatives in honoring Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low with House Resolution 1054 on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. HR 1054 would name the bridge over the Savannah River between downtown Savannah and Hutchinson Island after Low, who was a native of Savannah.
“Girl Scouts gave me the skills and confidence to lead, and I see Juliette Gordon Low’s legacy continue through the girls in my Girl Scouts Junior troop, the hundreds of Girl Scouts who came to the Capitol this week and the 40,000 Girl Scouts who visit Savannah each year to walk in Low’s footsteps,” said Rep. Anulewicz, who is a former Girl Scout and a current Girl Scouts troop leader. “Girl Scouts instills the values of sisterhood and service, and the program empowers girls to be go-getters, risk-takers, innovators and leaders. We saw these qualities in every Girl Scout we met at the Capitol this week.”
If passed and signed into law, the US 17/SR 404 bridge in Chatham County would be renamed the Juliette Gordon Low Bridge.
