Rep. Jon Burns Re-Elected House Majority Leader

ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus re-elected State Representative Jon Burns (R-Newington) as the House Majority Leader during caucus elections on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.

“I am proud that our Majority Caucus has worked to cut taxes on Georgians, fully fund public education and modernize Georgia’s adoption laws,” said Majority Leader Burns. “I look forward to continuing to serve our caucus and I appreciate the trust of every member of our Republican Majority.”

In this position, Majority Leader Burns will be responsible for leading the House Republican Caucus.

This is Majority Leader Burns’ seventh term in the Georgia House of Representatives and his third term as Majority Leader.

 

Representative Jon Burns represents the citizens of District 159, which includes portions of Bulloch, Effingham and Screven counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and currently serves as House Majority Leader. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism, Ethics, Game, Fish & Parks, Rules and Transportation committees.
