Rep. Chuck Martin Named Chairman of House Higher Education Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta) as the Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee.  Rep. Martin will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Regulated Industries, Retirement, Rules, Science and Technology and Ways and Means committees. He was also appointed to the House Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment.

“I am honored to be selected to chair the House Higher Education Committee,” said Rep. Martin. “I will work hard alongside committee members, the higher education community, taxpayers and students in support of 21st century requirements.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Chuck Martin represents the citizens of District 49, which includes portions of Fulton County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and currently serves as Chairman of the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Regulated Industries, Retirement, Rules, Science and Technology and Ways and Means committees. He was also appointed to the House Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment.
