Rep. Sam Watson Named Chairman of House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Sam Watson (R-Moultrie) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government.  Rep. Watson will also serve as the Secretary of the Retirement Committee and as a member on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Natural Resources & Environment, Special Rules, Transportation and Ways & Means committees.

“I am honored that Speaker Ralston has entrusted me with this leadership role on this committee,” said Rep. Watson. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to make sure the agencies under general government are strong and have the resources necessary to put Georgians first.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Sam Watson represents the citizens of District 172, which includes portions of Colquitt, Thomas and Tift counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. He also serves as Chairman of the Rural Caucus and as Secretary of the Retirement Committee, and as a member on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Natural Resources & Environment, Special Rules, Transportation and Ways & Means committees.
