Rep. Dave Belton Named Chairman of House Special Rules Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead) as the Chairman of the House Special Rules Committee and Secretary of the Interstate Cooperation Committee.  Rep. Belton will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and on the Economic Development & Tourism, Education, and Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications committees. He will also serve as a member of the Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment.

“I’m extremely grateful to Speaker Ralston and the entire Committee on Assignments for allowing me to serve as chairman of Special Rules,” said Rep. Belton. “I’m also very excited about serving on the newly formed Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment. As the author of four novels, and representing Covington, Georgia, the Hollywood of the South, I’m very impressed at the vision the Speaker has displayed to expand the entertainment industry in this state. I pledge to work as hard as I can to continue Georgia’s status as the number one place for artists to perfect their works.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Dave Belton represents the citizens of District 112, which includes all of Morgan County and the eastern side of Newton County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2014 and currently serves as Chairman of the Special Rules Committee and as Secretary of the Interstate Cooperation Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and on the Economic Development & Tourism, Education and Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications committees.
