Rep. Andy Welch Reappointed Chairman of Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety

ATLANTA – State Representative Andy Welch (R-Locust Grove) was recently reappointed as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety by the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments. Rep. Welch will also serve as a member on the Code Revision, Juvenile Justice, Judiciary and Regulated Industries committees.

“I am honored to be reappointed chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety by Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments,” said Rep. Welch. “It is a privilege to oversee the budget of agencies like the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Juvenile Justice, Corrections and Pardons and Paroles. These men and women have dedicated their lives to protecting our citizens from harm and ensuring justice for all Georgians, and through the work of this committee, we will ensure that all public safety agencies receive the necessary funds needed to successfully meet the needs in our state.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Andrew Welch represents the citizens of District 110, which includes portions of Butts, Henry and Newton Counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety. He also serves on the Code Revision, Juvenile Justice, Judiciary and Regulated Industries committees.
