ATLANTA – State Representative Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) recently traveled to Panama with a delegation of state transportation leaders from eight Southern states affiliated with the Southern Legislative Conference for high level briefings on the Panama Canal expansion project. The delegation agenda was designed to emphasize the need for Southern ports to continue making enhancements to accommodate larger vessels that are expected to arrive after the expansion of the Panama Canal.

Rep. Ron Stephens Visits The Children’s Village at the Crossroad for “Georgia Pre-K Week”

ATLANTA – State Representative Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) celebrated the 21st Anniversary of Georgia’s Pre-K program this week by visiting The Children’s Village at the Crossroad as part of “Georgia Pre-K Week.” During his visit, Rep. Stephens read to a group of 4-year-old pre-kindergarten students and saw firsthand the learning that happens each day thanks to Georgia’s Pre-K Program.

Rep. Stephens Participates in Canada Border Study Tour to Promote Automobile Industry in the South

ATLANTA – State Representative Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) recently participated in a Border Study Tour of the border between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The Border Study Tour was designed to educate state legislators about the U.S.-Canada economic partnership and benefits that border initiatives may have for Georgia and other Southern states.

Rep. Stephens’ Legislation Signed Into Law by Governor

ATLANTA – State Representative Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) commented today on Governor Nathan Deal signing into law House Bill 1027, legislation that closes loopholes and clarifies provisions of the state tax credit for film and video production in Georgia. Sponsored by Rep. Stephens, HB 1027 passed the General Assembly with broad, bipartisan support during this year’s legislative session, receiving a vote of 154 to 4 in the House and a unanimous vote of 46 to 0 in the Senate.
