Rep. Rynders Cosponsors Welfare Reform Legislation

ATLANTA — State Representative Ed Rynders (R-Albany) today announced that he is cosponsoring House Bill 138. Originally introduced by Rep. Andy Welch (R-McDonough), HB 138 would place congressionally mandated restrictions on the use of Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards that are provided through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

Rep. Charlice Byrd Co-Sponsors Legislation Requiring Drug Tests for TANF

ATLANTA – State Representative Charlice Byrd (R-Woodstock) has co-sponsored House Bill 668, legislation pre-filed this week by Rep. Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) that would require applicants seeking cash assistance through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to pass a drug test before receiving any public funds. Rep. Jason Spencer to Introduce Legislation Requiring Drug Tests for TANF

ATLANTA – State Representative Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) today announced plans to introduce legislation that would require applicants seeking cash assistance through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to pass a drug test before receiving any public funds. The proposed legislation would only affect TANF and would have no effect on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or any other public assistance programs. Continue reading “Rep.
