Rep. Shaw Blackmon Named Chairman of House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation.  Rep. Blackmon will also serve as a member on the Rules, Small Business Development, Juvenile Justice, Economic Development & Tourism, Special Rules and Ways and Means committees.

Blackmon. “Transportation infrastructure is at the heart of our economic development platform, and it is of critical importance to remain the best state for business and absolutely vital for growth in rural Georgia. I am excited to be serving in this capacity alongside my colleagues in the General Assembly as we continue to move our state forward.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Shaw Blackmon represents the citizens of District 146, which includes portions of Houston County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 and currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Secretary of the Governmental Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Rules, Small Business Development, Juvenile Justice, Economic Development & Tourism, Special Rules and Ways and Means committees.
